Major Drug Bust in Anantnag; 5.66 Kg Ganja Seized, Accused Arrested
Anantnag, Feb 14: In a significant breakthrough under its anti-narcotics campaign, police in Anantnag apprehended a suspected drug peddler and confiscated a large quantity of contraband during a patrol operation on Saturday.
According to officials, a team from Police Post Sangam intercepted a man at Doonipora near Weeta College after noticing suspicious movement. A search led to the recovery of nearly 5.66 kilograms of a substance believed to be ganja.
The accused has been identified as Sahil Fayaz Dar, a resident of KV Pora Marhama. Following the seizure, a case under FIR No. 28/2026 has been registered at Police Station Bejbehara under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
Police reiterated their resolve to eliminate the drug menace and appealed to citizens to provide credible information to curb narcotics trafficking in the district.
