SAMBA DECEMBER 08: Extension and Publicity wing of Animal Husbandry Department Jammu organized a one-day seminar for vets and Para-vets at Samba.
The aim of the seminar held on the directions of Director Animal Husbandry Jammu, Vivek Sharma, was to acquaint vets and Para-veterinary staff, with the farmer welfare schemes launched by the J&K government and their implementation at the micro-level.
Extension Officer, Dr. Sunil Bazaz, explained in detail various components/pattern of assistance offered under Integrated Dairy Development and Feed & Fodder development schemes.
It was stressed upon the participants to identify the beneficiaries, based on their needs and interest, and promote these schemes among the farmers in their areas of operation.
They were asked to gain a fair knowledge about the operational guidelines of these schemes, their pattern of assistance, and much more, which will ultimately help in shaping an innovative, resourceful extension worker in a veterinarian. This type of approach together with the support from the department will bring an absolute transformation of the farming community and raise their socio-economic status.
Dr. Suraj Amrutkar, Scientist, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Samba delivered an informative lecture on new concepts/ marketing strategies, the formation of FPOs (farmers producer organizations).
Other issues related to the latest technical know-how in the field of veterinary healthcare management and breeding practices were also discussed by the experts during the said seminar.
Dr. Matloob A. Tak, DD (AH) & Dr. Anil Gupta, CAHO Samba, also addressed the participants and shared valuable tips for doubling farmers’ income, based on their vast experience in the field of Animal Health & poultry rearing.
