Annual ‘Vishal Dangal’ at Tohana-Tibba: A Wrestling Extravaganza in Memory of Social Reformer Peer Monganath

08-10-2023 : A “Vishal Dangal” was held on 7th October at TOHANA-TIBBA, Panchayat Grounds, in which a large number of wrestlers, from our UT and adjoining states participated. This is an Annual feature, which is organised by SATTOWALI Panchayat in memory of a SOCIAL REFORMER and saintly figure, PEER MONGANATH who comes from the area of DEVA- WATAL, Tehsil BHIMBER and Distt. MIRPUR (now in POK).This type of function used to be held at village WATALA, before partition of 1947 and now many such tournaments are held, by the members of CHIBHAL, wherever they have settled, in different parts of our state.

Mr. JUGAL KISHORE SHARMA, Former Minister was the chief guest and Mr. R SCHIB, Former Minister presided over the function. The prominent among others who were present, included, Sarpanch Shrimati, VEENA DEVI, Naib- Sarpanch, KULDEEP SINGH, PR Manhas, Retd. IGP, Col. R N SHARMA, SOBAT ALI JMC Corporator, HL ABROL, VISHAL CHOPRA,SURAJ PARKASH SHARMA, KULWANT SINGH, Sarpanchs, Panchs and many important members of CIVIL SOCIETY.

The first Prize of Rs. 15 Lacs was bagged by one PRITPAL SINGH of PHAGWARA and the runner-up was PARVEEN KOHALI, both from Punjab. Besides, many prominent wrestlers participated who came from H.P, DELHI, PUNJAB and HARYANA.

 Mr. Chib, while speaking to Media persons, pard rich tributes to PEER MONGA NATH who was a symbol of secularism and loved by all, irrespective of any political and religious affiliations. He advised the younger generations, to remember those, who have contributed for the welfare of society as a whole
