Anthony Edwards’ 42-Point Masterclass Powers Timberwolves to 127-117 Win Over Warriors

Star guard leads Timberwolves to victory in San Francisco as injury-hit Warriors slump to another defeat.

San Francisco: Anthony Edwards produced a brilliant offensive display, scoring 42 points to guide the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 127-117 win over the Golden State Warriors on Friday night.

Edwards was dominant throughout the contest, shooting 13-for-22 from the field and converting all 12 of his free-throw attempts. The dynamic guard also contributed eight rebounds and five assists. Teammate Rudy Gobert added 18 points and nine rebounds as Minnesota ended a three game losing streak.

The Warriors struggled to cope with several key absences. Draymond Green was ruled out shortly before tip-off due to a lower-back issue, while Stephen Curry missed his 16th straight game. Despite the setbacks, Brandin Podziemski led Golden State’s scoring with 25 points.

New signing Kristaps Porziņģis made his first start for the Warriors and finished with 20 points, but the team’s injury concerns deepened during the game. Veteran center Al Horford exited in the opening quarter with right calf tightness, while Seth Curry left in the second half with discomfort in his left inner thigh.

Minnesota seized control midway through the game. After Porziņģis hit a step-back jumper, the Timberwolves responded with a decisive 17-4 run to extend their advantage. The Warriors attempted a late comeback when Gui Santos knocked down a three-pointer and Malevy Leons followed with a dunk to cut the deficit to 109-102, but they were unable to close the gap.

The loss marked Golden State’s fourth straight defeat and sixth in their last seven games, leaving them with a 9-18 record this season in matches without Stephen Curry.

Minnesota will next face the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday to wrap up their four-game road trip, while the Warriors travel to take on the New York Knicks as they begin a six-game stretch away from home.
