Anti-Terror Operation in Kishtwar, Arms and War Like Stores Seized in Poonch

Security forces intensify crackdown on terror networks, OGWs, and drug syndicates across Jammu and Kashmir.

Srinagar, Sep 20: An anti-terrorist operation continued on Saturday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, while war-like stores of arms and ammunition were seized during a separate joint operation in Poonch district.

The Nagrota based White Knight Corps of the Indian Army confirmed that its troops, acting on intelligence inputs, established contact with terrorists in Kishtwar around 8 p.m. on September 19, leading to an exchange of fire. “Operations are currently in progress,” the Corps posted on X.

In another intelligence-led operation in Poonch, joint teams of the Army and J&K Police recovered one AK-series weapon, four AK magazines, 20 hand grenades, and other war-like stores. Search operations in the area are continuing.

Security forces have intensified coordinated action against terrorists, their overground workers (OGWs), and sympathisers. Drug smugglers and hawala networks, believed to be a major source of terror funding, are also being targeted under the revised counter-terror strategy.

Intelligence agencies have traced the roots of several narco-terror and hawala operations to handlers across the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB). While the Border Security Force (BSF) guards the 240-km-long IB in Jammu, Kathua, and Samba, the Indian Army secures the 740-km-long LoC across Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Poonch, and Rajouri districts.

Officials said the ongoing operations reflect a broader strategy to dismantle the entire terror ecosystem in the Union Territory.
