Anupam Kher Teams Up with Sooraj Barjatya for New Film, Hails Him as an ‘Icon’

Mumbai, Oct 01 : Veteran actor Anupam Kher has announced his 549th film, which marks his latest collaboration with acclaimed filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya. The actor took to social media to share the news and expressed his deep admiration for the ‘Hum Saath-Saath Hain’ director, calling him an “icon, an amazing person and an amazing director.”
Sharing a heartfelt post on Instagram, Kher wrote, “ANNOUNCING MY 549th FILM: Delighted to share that my 549th untitled film started today with one and only SOORAJ BARJATYA! Presented him the auspicious shawl which I got from Ayodhya!”
On the first day of the shoot, the actor presented Barjatya with a special shawl from Ayodhya, symbolizing blessings for the new venture. In a video shared by Kher, Barjatya mentioned that this film marks his eighth directorial project.
Reflecting on their long-standing association, Kher added, “Sooraj was Mahesh Bhatt Saab’s fifth assistant for my first film ‘Saaransh’. It’s been a long, happy, and creatively joyous journey with him. I’m proud to be part of the Rajshri family all these years. As tradition goes, I have the privilege to be in the first shot of the film. Jai Shri Krishna!”
Although details about the film’s title, plot, and cast remain under wraps, fans are eager to see what the celebrated duo brings to the screen next under the Rajshri Films banner.
In a separate Instagram post, Kher also extended warm birthday wishes to Sikandar Kher, his wife Kirron Kher’s son, writing, “Happy Birthday dearest Sikandar! May God give you all the happiness in the world. Love and prayers always.”
With his 549th film underway, Anupam Kher continues to prove that his passion for cinema remains as strong as ever.
