Srinagar, Aug 20: Zafar Iqbal Manhas, vice president of the Apni Party, along with his son, has tendered his resignation from the party on Tuesday as per media reports. The duo is expected to join the Congress party on Wednesday. Manhas confirmed his resignation, stating that his future steps will be determined after consulting with his supporters.
Sources indicate that a meeting with Manhas’ workers is currently underway at his residence to finalize the decision. It is anticipated that Manhas will officially join the Congress in the presence of senior party leader Rahul Gandhi.
Manhas, who was a founding member of the Apni Party after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party, has played a significant role in the party’s establishment. His son, Irfan Manhas, currently serves as vice chairperson of the DDC Council in Shopian.
