Apollo Hospitals Expands Routine Outpatient Services to Sundays
The healthcare group introduces seven-day OPD access across its network to improve convenience and encourage preventive consultations.
NEW DELHI, Aug 19: Apollo Hospitals has announced an expansion of routine outpatient services to Sundays across its network, aiming to make healthcare consultations and preventive services more accessible to patients.
Under the initiative, patients will be able to access routine outpatient consultations on Sundays in addition to the services already available during the working week. The move is designed to provide greater flexibility for people who find it difficult to schedule medical appointments on weekdays.
The initiative comes amid growing emphasis on preventive healthcare and timely medical consultations. Limited availability during regular working hours can sometimes discourage people from seeking medical advice for non-emergency health concerns.
By extending outpatient access to all seven days of the week, Apollo Hospitals aims to reduce this barrier and make routine healthcare more convenient.
The expanded schedule is expected to cover outpatient consultations and diagnostic services, allowing patients to address health concerns without necessarily having to take time away from weekday work or other responsibilities.
The initiative also places greater emphasis on preventive care. Regular health consultations and timely screening can help identify certain conditions earlier and allow doctors to recommend appropriate follow-up care.
Apollo’s move reflects a broader shift in healthcare delivery towards greater patient convenience. Hospitals and healthcare providers are increasingly exploring ways to make services more accessible outside traditional weekday schedules.
The hospital group has described the initiative as part of its effort to remain available to patients throughout the week. The expansion could particularly benefit working professionals, families and others who may find Sunday appointments easier to accommodate.
The announcement also highlights the changing expectations of healthcare consumers, with accessibility and convenience becoming increasingly important alongside clinical services.
Apollo Hospitals chairman Prathap C Reddy has also indicated plans to expand the group’s hospital network over the next five years, while the Sunday OPD initiative focuses on improving access to existing healthcare services.
