AR Rahman Reveals He Was Advised Against Working with Danny Boyle
Composer recalls completing Oscar winning music for ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ in just three weeks
MUMBAI, Sept 10: Oscar winning composer AR Rahman has recalled how he was advised against working with filmmaker Danny Boyle before their collaboration on the acclaimed film Slumdog Millionaire.
Rahman said he received warnings about taking up the project but chose to trust his instincts and work with the British director.
The composer went on to create the film’s music in a remarkably short period, completing the score in around three weeks. The soundtrack became an important part of the film’s global success and helped Rahman gain international recognition.
His work on the film earned him two Academy Awards in 2009, for Best Original Score and Best Original Song for “Jai Ho”.
Rahman’s collaboration with Boyle subsequently became one of the most significant milestones in his international career, demonstrating how an unconventional creative partnership can produce globally recognised work.
The composer has continued to work across Indian and international projects, establishing himself as one of the most prominent Indian musicians on the world stage.
