Army Chief Reviews Ongoing Counter-Terror Operations in Jammu Hills

Lt Gen P K Mishra Oversees Search and Cordon Efforts in Udhampur, Doda, Kishtwar, and Kathua

Jammu, Sep 22: General Officer Commanding (GOC) of White Knight Corps, Lt Gen P K Mishra, on Monday reviewed ongoing anti-terror operations in the hilly terrains of Udhampur, Doda, and Kishtwar districts of Jammu and Kashmir, following recent encounters with terrorists, officials said.

A massive search operation has been underway in the Seoj Dhar forest connecting Dudu-Basantgarh in Udhampur with Bhaderwah in Doda since Friday evening, after a soldier was killed in a gunfight with terrorists. Simultaneously, security forces launched an operation in Keshwan forest of Kishtwar district following a brief encounter on Sunday afternoon.

Lt Gen Mishra, accompanied by GOC of counter-insurgency force Delta, Maj Gen A P S Bal, flew to Seoj Dhar via helicopter to personally review the operations. Although no further contact with terrorists has been reported after the initial skirmishes, helicopters, drones, and sniffer dogs continue to support ground forces in combing the dense forests.

In a separate development, a cordon and search operation was initiated in Malhar area of Kathua district based on intelligence about the possible movement of two terrorists. Officials confirmed that the search is ongoing, but no trace of the suspects has been found so far.

The joint efforts of the army, police, and CRPF demonstrate a continued focus on counter-terror operations in Jammu’s sensitive hilly regions.
