Army JCO Dies After Falling Into Gorge in J&K’s Poonch
Subedar slips on steep slope in Seri Mastan area; rescue teams recover body.
Mendhar/Jammu, Nov 22: A junior commissioned officer (JCO) of the Army died after accidentally slipping into a deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, officials said on Saturday.
The incident occurred on Friday evening when the subedar, who was leading a search party in the Seri Mastan area of Behramgalla, lost balance while negotiating a steep slope and fell into the gorge.
Army troops immediately launched a rescue operation but found the JCO dead on the spot, officials said.
After completion of legal and medical formalities, the body was sent to the officer’s hometown for the last rites.
