Army Kills Four UKNA Militants in Counter Terror Operation in Manipur’s Churachandpur
Security forces foil terrorist attack in Manipur’s Khanpi village, operation continues to restore peace and stability
Churachandpur, Nov 4 — In a major counter-terror operation, the Indian Army neutralised four cadres of the United Kuki National Army (UKNA), a non Suspension of Operations (SoO) insurgent group, during an intelligence-based operation in Manipur’s Churachandpur district early Tuesday.
According to an Army spokesperson, the operation took place in Khanpi village, located about 80 km west of Churachandpur, after terrorists opened unprovoked fire on an Army column. The ensuing gunfight resulted in the elimination of four UKNA militants.
The search operation in the adjoining areas is still underway to ensure the complete sanitisation of the region.
The Army said the action follows a series of recent atrocities by UKNA cadres, including the killing of a village chief, threats to local residents, and attempts to destabilise peace in the area.
“Successful neutralisation of these terrorists highlights the Indian Army and Assam Rifles’ commitment to protecting innocent civilians, mitigating threats, and ensuring peace and security in Manipur,” the spokesperson added.
