Army Officer Makes Supreme Sacrifice During Anti-Terror Operation in Rajouri

India, June 07 : The Indian Army paid heartfelt tributes to Lieutenant Beereshwar Goswami, who lost his life while carrying out operational responsibilities during a counter-terror mission in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Saturday.

According to officials, the young officer met with a fatal accident after slipping on difficult mountainous terrain and falling into a deep gorge while participating in an active security operation. The area where the incident occurred is known for its steep cliffs, dense forests, and challenging weather conditions, making military operations particularly demanding.

The White Knight Corps expressed deep sorrow over the officer’s demise. In a message shared on social media platform X, the Corps stated that Lieutenant Goswami made the supreme sacrifice while performing his duties in a region marked by rugged landscapes and adverse environmental conditions.

General Officer Commanding of the White Knight Corps, Lieutenant General P. K. Mishra, along with all ranks of the formation, paid homage to the fallen officer. Army officials highlighted his courage, commitment, and dedication to service, describing him as a source of inspiration for fellow soldiers.

The Army noted that Lieutenant Goswami’s devotion to duty and steadfast resolve in the face of operational challenges reflected the highest traditions of military service. His contribution to national security will be remembered with pride and respect.

The officer was part of ‘Operation Sheruwali’, an ongoing search mission in the Dorimaal-Gambhir Mughalan sector of Rajouri. The operation, which has continued for over two weeks, aims to locate and neutralize a group of Pakistani terrorists believed to be hiding in the forested region.

The White Knight Corps also extended its condolences to the bereaved family, assuring them of the Army’s support during this difficult time. Prayers were offered for the eternal peace of the departed soul as colleagues and citizens alike remembered his sacrifice in the service of the nation.

Lieutenant Beereshwar Goswami’s untimely death serves as a reminder of the risks faced daily by security personnel operating in some of the country’s most challenging environments to safeguard peace and security.
