Around 30,000 Personnel Deployed for Ganesh Idol Immersion in Hyderabad on Sept 25

HYDERABAD, Sep 23: Hyderabad Police has put in place extensive security and traffic arrangements for the Ganesh idol immersion procession scheduled for September 25, with around 30,000 personnel deployed across the city.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar said the arrangements have been designed to manage large crowds, regulate traffic and maintain law and order during the final phase of the celebrations. More than 10,000 CCTV cameras installed along major procession routes have been linked to the Telangana State Police Integrated Command and Control Centre for real-time monitoring.

Twenty-four advanced drones and nearly 100 high-rise cameras will provide additional surveillance, including monitoring crowd movement and supporting automated counting of idols. Police personnel equipped with high-powered binoculars and wireless communication devices have also been stationed on rooftops along key routes.

Around 20,000 personnel from the Law and Order, Traffic, Task Force, Special Branch, City Security Wing and CAR units of the Hyderabad Commissionerate have been deployed. Another 8,142 personnel in 42 platoons have been assigned across seven security zones.

Four Rapid Action Force companies and two CRPF companies have been positioned in sensitive areas. Fifty-three Bomb Detection teams are conducting security checks at entry points, transport hubs, railway stations and shopping centres.

Police said large numbers of devotees and idols are expected to participate in the procession, with arrivals from Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Malkajgiri, Future City and neighbouring districts. Authorities are coordinating with other government departments to ensure smooth movement and emergency response.

Expert divers and rescue boats from the Indian Army and Tourism Department have been stationed near major immersion points to deal with possible emergencies.

Police have also imposed restrictions on DJ systems, sound mixers, high-decibel audio equipment and firecrackers in accordance with court directions concerning public health and noise pollution.

Sajjanar appealed to residents to maintain peace and celebrate responsibly. He warned that vulgar behaviour, misconduct, hate speech, inflammatory posts and rumours on social media would invite strict action.

The Commissioner further said that idol immersion must be carried out only at designated water bodies in accordance with High Court directions.

According to police, 32,878 idols have so far been immersed across different areas, including 6,108 within Hyderabad city limits.
