NEW DELHI, Sept 17: Senior leader Atishi is poised to become the next Chief Minister of Delhi, as confirmed by a unanimous decision from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday. The party’s legislators endorsed her candidacy after Arvind Kejriwal proposed her as his successor during a crucial meeting.
Kejriwal, who had been recently released from jail, announced his resignation from the position on Sunday. He indicated he would only consider a return if the public offered him a “certificate of honesty” in a gesture of trust and support.
Atishi, a prominent figure in AAP, has been instrumental in the party’s leadership and administration, overseeing key portfolios such as finance, education, and public works. Her appointment marks a significant transition in Delhi’s political landscape, reflecting a new chapter in the party’s governance.
