Awantipora Police Seize 421 Grams of Charas from Woman

Rubeena Sheikh apprehended during naka checking; case registered under NDPS Act

AWANTIPORA, Nov 9: Police in Awantipora apprehended a woman during a naka checking at Padgampora and recovered 421 grams of charas from her possession, officials said.

According to a police spokesperson, the woman was noticed moving suspiciously from Padgampora towards Awantipora. When she attempted to flee upon seeing the police party, she was tactfully apprehended.

The accused was identified as Rubeena W/o Ashiq Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Zahidpora Hawal near Halwai Masjid, Srinagar. Upon a personal search, ten sticks of charas like substance weighing 421 grams were recovered. The contraband was seized on the spot under a proper seizure memo, and the accused has been arrested.

A case (FIR No. 245/2025) under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Awantipora, and investigations are underway.
