Azad promises equitable development of Jammu, Chenab and Peer Panchal regions

DPAP Chief expresses concern over expanding terrorism in Jammu

08-05-2023 : The Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) Chairman, Ghulam Nabi Azad, expressed his disappointment at the expansion of terrorism to the Jammu region, citing the recent terror incidents in Rajouri and Poonch as a cause for concern. Speaking at a party function in Jammu, Azad urged the people of Jammu to remain cautious against forces who engage in petty politics for their personal gains, without contributing to the city’s development. He emphasized that the expansion of militancy in the region is detrimental to peace, and urged for more efforts to combat terrorism.

Azad also highlighted the issues of poor governance and lack of accountability in the system, which he claimed are affecting the economy and leading to a decline in job opportunities for the people of Jammu. If his party comes to power, he promised to ensure equitable development of Jammu, Chenab, and Peer Panchal regions, which have been historically marginalized.

Furthermore, Azad lamented over the growing incidents of violence, stating that terrorism is in nobody’s interest. He recently visited the Jagti township to meet with Kashmiri Pandits, who warmly welcomed him. Addressing the Kashmiri Pandits, Azad promised to do everything in his power to ensure their return to their homes with dignity and respect, thus completing the ethos of “Kashmiriyat” and “Insaniyat”.

Azad’s comments and promises highlight the need for increased efforts to combat terrorism in the Jammu region, as well as the need for equitable development and accountability in the governance system. His visit to the Jagti township and promise to ensure the return of Kashmiri Pandits is a sign of his commitment to the people and the ethos of unity and inclusiveness.
