BBIA Sounds Alarm Over Two-Year Policy Vacuum, Seeks Urgent Industrial Revival in J&K

Tarun Singla-Led BBIA Pushes for New Investor-Friendly Policy, SGST Relief and Incentive Continuity

Jammu, 05-08-2026: A delegation of the Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA), led by Mr. Tarun Singla, President, met Director, Industries & Commerce, Jammu, for a detailed and constructive interaction on the issues concerning the industrial sector of Jammu & Kashmir in presence of Sh. Viraaj Malhotra Sr. Vice President, Sh. Nitin Sood, Vice President, Sh. Sachin Kapoor General Secretary, Sh. Abhishek Mahajan Secretary, Sh. Vivek Singhal, Treasurer BBIA.
At the outset, the office bearers expressed their sincere appreciation to the Director, Industries & Commerce, for his proactive approach, accessibility and continuous support towards the industrial fraternity. The delegation acknowledged that his positive and solution-oriented attitude has strengthened the confidence of existing as well as aspiring entrepreneurs.
A comprehensive brainstorming session was held on several important issues affecting the industrial ecosystem. The Director assured the delegation that the Department remains committed to working closely with all stakeholders for the overall development of industry in Jammu & Kashmir.
The major issues discussed included:
* Preparation of a progressive and practical Industrial Policy after detailed consultation with stakeholders.
* Formulation of a comprehensive Logistics Policy to reduce transportation costs and improve the competitiveness of local industries.
* Continuation of SGST reimbursement/incentives for existing industrial units, including cases involving change or addition of line of activity, so that industries investing in diversification are not deprived of policy benefits.
* Requirement of adequate SIDCO development funds for upgradation of industrial estates, roads, drainage, street lighting and other essential infrastructure.
* Early opening of the NCSS portal, enabling eligible units to complete pending formalities. The Director assured that the entire process would be carried out in a transparent and fair manner, strictly in accordance with the notified guidelines.
* Continuation of  Turnover Incentive, which remain essential for sustaining industries operating in the geographically disadvantaged region of Jammu & Kashmir.
* The delegation also highlighted that no new investment policy has been introduced during the last two years, which has adversely affected fresh industrial investment. BBIA requested the Government to announce a new investor-friendly policy at the earliest to attract investments, generate employment and accelerate industrial growth.
The Director patiently heard all the issues and assured the delegation that the Department would continue to engage with industry representatives on a regular basis. He reiterated that the objective of the Department is to create a transparent, investor-friendly and growth-oriented industrial environment in Jammu & Kashmir.
Speaking after the meeting, Mr. Tarun Singla, President, BBIA, stated:
