BCCI Announces Expanded Domestic Calendar for 2026–27 Season
Revised schedule aims to provide greater match exposure and improve workload management for domestic cricketers.
NEW DELHI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled an expanded domestic cricket calendar for the 2026–27 season, introducing scheduling changes aimed at giving players more competitive opportunities while ensuring better workload management.
The revised calendar includes adequate breaks between tournaments, allowing players sufficient recovery time during a demanding season. Domestic competitions such as the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy have been structured to minimise scheduling conflicts.
BCCI officials said the updated framework is intended to strengthen India’s domestic cricket ecosystem by offering consistent match practice to emerging players and enhancing the pathway to the national team.
State associations have welcomed the move, stating that a more balanced schedule will help improve player performance, reduce injuries and create a stronger talent pipeline for Indian cricket.
The new season is expected to begin later this year, with teams preparing for an intensive calendar featuring multi-format competitions across the country.
