Bhushan Kumar, Vivek Agnihotri Announce Film ‘Operation Sindoor’
Upcoming project inspired by India’s strategic military strikes following Pahalgam terror attack
Mumbai, Mar 26: Filmmaker Bhushan Kumar and director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri on Thursday unveiled their new film Operation Sindoor, a project inspired by India’s targeted military strikes on terror infrastructure across the border.
The film draws from the book Operation Sindoor: The Untold Story of India’s Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan authored by Lt Gen K.J.S. ‘Tiny’ Dhillon (Retd), and aims to present a detailed account of the events that followed the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir in 2025.
Backed by T-Series and I Am Buddha Productions, the film will be directed by Agnihotri, known for his previous works such as The Kashmir Files, The Tashkent Files, and The Bengal Files.
According to the makers, the film seeks to portray a defining moment in India’s military strategy, reflecting precision, planning and resolve. It also intends to serve as a cinematic interpretation of the aftermath of the terror attack in Pahalgam, where 26 people, mostly tourists, lost their lives.
Bhushan Kumar described the project as a story that demands to be told with responsibility and honesty, emphasising its significance beyond conventional filmmaking.
Agnihotri stated that the film is based on extensive ground level research conducted in collaboration with various wings of the Indian Armed Forces. He noted that the narrative will attempt to explore not just the events, but the deeper strategic and operational aspects behind them.
Highlighting his approach to filmmaking, the director said the aim is to present an authentic and compelling account that balances factual clarity with cinematic storytelling.
Further details regarding the cast and release timeline are expected to be announced in the coming months.
