Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Enters World Book of Records for 10th Oath Taking
Nitish Kumar becomes the only leader in independent India to be sworn in as state CM ten times, earning global recognition.
PATNA, Dec 06 : Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has achieved global recognition as his name has been included in the World Book of Records (WBR), London, for being the only individual in independent India to be sworn in as a chief minister ten times. The organisation congratulated Nitish for this unprecedented milestone, noting that from 1947 to 2025, no other leader has held this record.
In its official letter, WBR highlighted that Nitish Kumar’s repeated oath-taking reflects both the people’s trust in his leadership and his commitment to governance, development, and social welfare. “Leading a state for ten terms is not just a personal achievement but a moment of pride for the entire country,” the letter read. The recognition will be accompanied by an official certificate acknowledging this record-setting accomplishment.
On December 20, Nitish took the oath as Bihar CM for the 10th time, along with 26 ministers. Reacting to the announcement, JD(U) MLC and spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said, “This recognition honors Nitish’s relentless vision for Bihar’s development and will inspire party workers across the state.”
Nitish Kumar is now Bihar’s longest-serving CM, joining a distinguished list of other long-tenured chief ministers in India, including Pawan Kumar Chamling (Sikkim), Naveen Patnaik (Odisha), and Jyoti Basu (West Bengal), who served multiple terms over decades.
