Bill Gates to Miss India AI Impact Summit Keynote, Citing ‘Careful Consideration’

Gates Foundation emphasizes summit priorities as Ankur Vora steps in to represent the organization in Delhi.

Delhi, February 19, 2026: Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates will not deliver the keynote address at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, the Gates Foundation confirmed on Thursday. The announcement ends speculation over his participation in the high-profile event, amid recent media reports linking his name to the Epstein files.

The foundation clarified on X that Gates’ decision was made after “careful consideration” to ensure the summit remains focused on its key objectives. Ankur Vora, president of the foundation’s Africa and India offices, will address the summit later in the day.

“The Gates Foundation remains fully committed to our work in India to advance shared health and development goals,” the statement said, affirming ongoing initiatives in the country.

The fourth edition of the summit has attracted global leaders, ministers, and technology executives to discuss the evolving impact of artificial intelligence on governance, economic growth, and social development. Previous editions were held in the United Kingdom, South Korea, and France. While Gates will not speak, the foundation’s representation ensures continued engagement with the summit’s agenda.
