BJP Accuses Rahul Gandhi of Undermining Constitutional Bodies
BJP accuses Rahul Gandhi of undermining constitutional institutions
India, Feb 10 — The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday criticized Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s conduct in the Lok Sabha, alleging that he is deliberately disrupting parliamentary proceedings and undermining constitutional institutions.
BJP MP and chief spokesperson Anil Baluni claimed Gandhi’s actions show a lack of interest in meaningful debates. “His objective is to convert the temple of democracy into a political battleground. His sole agenda is to obstruct India’s progress and damage the nation’s global standing,” Baluni said.
Parliamentary Stand Off Over Budget Discussion
The criticism follows the Lok Sabha being adjourned amid a standoff over Gandhi’s demand to speak before discussions on the Union Budget. Baluni accused him of avoiding substantive debate and pursuing a “defame India” narrative.
“By disrupting the President’s Address, Rahul Gandhi not only showed contempt for Parliament but also committed a grave insult to India’s first tribal woman President,” Baluni added.
Allegations of Anti-National Conduct
The BJP leader also accused Gandhi of targeting national security, citing his meetings at the Chinese Embassy during the Doklam standoff and alleged remarks made during foreign visits. “Appealing to foreign powers to interfere in India’s internal affairs is the ultimate demonstration of ideological bankruptcy and an anti-national mindset,” Baluni charged.
Baluni emphasized that the Congress party’s absence from crucial debates, including the Union Budget, and actions such as tearing papers at the Speaker’s chair, reflect a disregard for democratic norms and parliamentary decorum.
“The audacity to attempt conspiracies against the Prime Minister within Parliament is beyond condemnation,” he said, urging the Opposition to prioritize people centric issues over obstructionist tactics.
