Ramban, Feb. 17: JKPCC Chief Shri Tariq Hameed Karra and Working Presidents Shri Tara Chand, Raman Bhalla, Former M.P. Ch. Lal Singh, Former MLAs Dina Nath Bhagat and Ashok Dogra, DCC President Pravez Ahmed Wani, Former National President NSUI Feroz Khan, Zahida Khan, and Rashid Malik, along with other senior leaders of Ramban Dist. today launched the party’s mission “Himari Riyasat Hamara Haq” to pressurize the Centre Govt. for early restoration of statehood besides awareness for safeguarding the constitutional values in the country.
Addressing the District Congress Workers Convention at Ramban today as part of the party’s provincial campaign Shri Karra questioned BJP for its refusal to obey its commitment to the people of J&K on the floor of Parliament and before the Hon’ble Supreme Court and repeated public announcements regarding early restoration of statehood even after more than four months of taking over by the elected Govt. in Jammu and Kashmir. It was not only disrespect of the Constitution and Supreme Court but to the people of Jammu and Kashmir who were denied from its identity, and status & alike. He said it is a betrayal of the BJP with the people of J&K for which the BJP leadership in J&K and at the National level should answer the people for the delay being deliberately caused.
Karra said that Congress will intensify the struggle for restoration of statehood if the commitment is not fulfilled within the shortest possible time.
JKPCC Chief blamed BJP and Central Govt. for disrespecting the mandate of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and delaying the restoration of statehood in order to run the affairs of J&K by proxy. He further said that the people have voted the NC-Congress coalition to power with great hopes and to get rid of the sufferings of the bureaucratic regime but unfortunately, the BJP does not transfer full powers to the elected Govt. in order to deliver on promises. He said that the common people, unemployed youth, daily wagers, need-based, casual workers, ad-hoc, consolidated workers, and other temporary workers like NHM, Anganwar, Ashas, SPOs, NYCs data annalists, and other youths working in different departments for years have been deceived by the BJP Govt. and awaiting justice from the Govt. but due to Centre and BJP’s attitude, they all are suffering. Similarly, the unemployed youth are suffering because of record unemployment in the last 45 years, bungling in selection lists, slow pace of recruitment through thousands of vacancies, abolishing of selection of regular teachers, RET elc. and it is our duty to deliver the commitment to the youth. The delay in the restoration of statehood is exacerbating the problems of common people, especially the unemployed, semi-employed people, besides farmers and others who are facing difficulties of power tariffss and huge rises in prices of essential items of life.
JKPCC Chief said that most of the Hydro Electric Projects are in the Chnab region; as such the Congress party is in favour of the grant of free & subsidized electricity to the residents of the region and the Centre and UT Govt. should consider the genuine demand of the people.
