Bollywood Actor Govinda Under Close Observation After Collapsing at Home
The 61 year old actor was rushed to CritiCare Hospital in Mumbai after losing consciousness; currently under close observation, say doctors.
Mumbai, Nov 12 — Veteran Bollywood actor Govinda was admitted to CritiCare Hospital in Juhu, Mumbai, early Wednesday after reportedly collapsing at his residence. The 61 year old actor remains under close medical supervision, with doctors closely monitoring his condition.
Confirming the news, Govinda’s friend and legal advisor Lalit Bindal told IANS that the actor initially took medication following a telephonic consultation but was later rushed to the hospital around 1 a.m. for emergency care. “He became unconscious at home and was immediately taken to CritiCare Hospital. He is currently under observation,” Bindal said.
The hospitalisation comes just a day after Govinda visited veteran actor Dharmendra, who is recovering at Breach Candy Hospital. Videos circulating online showed the Raja Babu star leaving the hospital with a somber expression.
This incident marks Govinda’s second hospital visit within a year. In October last year, the actor was treated at the same hospital after accidentally injuring his leg with a licensed revolver. The Hero No. 1 actor sustained a wound below his knee and underwent a brief surgery to remove the bullet. He was discharged three days later after a full recovery.
Speaking to the media at the time, Govinda had recalled, “I was about to leave for a show in Kolkata. It was 5 a.m. when the revolver fell and went off. I was shocked to see the blood. I immediately contacted my doctor and got admitted.”
Doctors at CritiCare have not yet issued an official statement on Govinda’s latest health status but confirmed that his condition is stable and he is being closely observed.
