Bollywood Stars Celebrate India’s 80th Independence Day With Patriotic Messages
Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn and other celebrities share messages of pride, unity and hope on August 15.
NEW DELHI, Aug 15: Bollywood and other Indian film industries joined the nation in celebrating India’s 80th Independence Day, with several leading stars sharing patriotic messages and personal reflections on social media.
Shah Rukh Khan marked the occasion with a photograph of himself in a white kurta and a message highlighting the significance of being Indian. He urged people to make their own contribution towards making the country proud.
Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, R Madhavan, Anupam Kher and several other prominent actors also extended Independence Day greetings to their followers. Celebrities from Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada cinema joined Bollywood personalities in celebrating the national occasion.
Akshay Kumar also drew attention for a gesture during an Independence Day celebration in Mumbai. In a widely circulated video, the actor removed his shoes before holding the national flag as the national anthem played. Tiger Shroff was also present at the event. The gesture received appreciation from social media users.
The celebrations extended beyond individual social media posts. Members of the Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah team marked the occasion at New York’s Empire State Building, which was illuminated for India’s Independence Day.
