Srinagar, Sep 15: A teenage boy who was critically injured in a landmine blast in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday has succumbed to his injuries at a hospital, officials said on Monday.
The victim, identified as 17-year-old Shahid Yousuf, died while undergoing treatment at the Army’s 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar.
Shahid sustained serious injuries when a landmine, planted for the security of the Khundru ammunition depot, went off on Sunday. He was first taken to a hospital in Anantnag and later shifted to the Army hospital for advanced treatment.
Officials said it was not immediately clear whether the teenager had stepped on the landmine or if it was triggered by other means. Further investigations into the incident are underway.
