BSF Recovers 5.3 Kg Heroin Airdropped by Drone Along Jammu Border
Alert BSF troops recover drug consignment dropped by Pakistan-based smugglers in R.S. Pura sector
Jammu, Oct 27 : In a major success against cross border narcotics trafficking, the Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday recovered 5.3 kilograms of suspected heroin from the R.S. Pura sector along the India-Pakistan international border in Jammu.
The seizure, made during an early morning search operation near Bidipur village, is believed to be part of a drone based smuggling attempt from across the border. The contraband was found packed in two yellow-colored packets containing ten smaller packets, officials said.
A BSF spokesperson stated that the recovery was made following precise intelligence inputs about possible drone activity in the area. “On the night of October 26, based on specific information from BSF intelligence, a special ambush was laid in the depth area of R.S. Pura. During the subsequent search operation on October 27 morning, troops recovered two yellow packets weighing around 5.3 kg from the farmland near Bidipur village,” the spokesperson said.
Police officials have been called to the site, and further investigations are underway. The BSF has also intensified patrolling and surveillance along the sensitive stretch to prevent future smuggling attempts.
“BSF remains steadfast in its mission to secure the nation’s borders from all forms of threats, including narcotics trafficking,” the spokesperson added.
The recovery adds to a series of recent successes by the BSF in thwarting Pakistan-based drug networks that increasingly use drones to smuggle heroin and other contraband into Indian territory.
