CBK Busts ₹50 Lakh Scam, Arrests Fraudster Posing as LG’s Duty Officer
CBK uncovers elaborate job and land scam; accused impersonated LG’s Duty Officer
Srinagar, Sep 15: The Crime Branch Kashmir (CBK) has arrested Abdul Majid Mir, a resident of Lishtiyal Kupwara, for allegedly impersonating a Duty Officer to the Lieutenant Governor and duping people of over ₹50 lakh by promising government jobs and land allotments.
According to CBK, the accused lured victims with fake job offers and land in SDA Colony, Bemina, and issued forged appointment letters in the name of the Airport Authority of India along with fabricated land allotment documents purportedly from the Srinagar Development Authority.
FIR No. 10/2025 was registered at the Economic Offences Wing of CBK, citing offences under Sections 419, 420, 467, 468, and 471 of the IPC. Abdul Majid Mir has been sent on a five-day police remand by the Court of Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Srinagar, for further investigation.
Authorities have warned the public to exercise caution and verify any claims of government jobs or land allotments to avoid falling victim to similar scams.
