CDS General Chauhan Stresses Modernisation and Flexibility of Indian Armed Forces
Chief of Defence Staff highlights modernization, joint operations, and innovation at Air Force Academy parade
Hyderabad, Dec 13: Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan on Saturday emphasized that the Indian Defence Forces are fully committed to adapting to the changing security environment and implementing reforms to remain operationally ready and relevant.
Addressing the Combined Graduation Parade (CGP) of 216 Course at the Air Force Academy in Dundigal, General Chauhan said India’s strength lies in its robust institutions, democratic stability, and the professionalism of its Armed Forces. He added that while the intensity of operations may have ebbed, Operation Sindoor continues.
“You join the Air Force at a moment when a new normal has firmly taken shape an era defined by high operational preparedness, 24/7, 365 days,” he said. General Chauhan highlighted that newly commissioned officers are entering the service during a phase of deep transformation, with integrated structures, joint operations, and a national pursuit of Atmanirbhar Bharat in defence shaping India’s military future.
He explained the guiding principles using the acronym JAI, derived from the first word of “Jai Hind”:
J for Jointness, fighting as one nation, one force.
A for Atmanirbhar Bharat, trusted platforms and systems made for India and the world.
I for Innovation, daring to think ahead and stay ahead of the curve.
General Chauhan also noted that while traditional battle domains remain contested and brutal, emerging domains will require smart, swift operations driven by intellect, innovation, and initiative. He stressed that the forces mastering these new frontiers are more likely to prevail in future conflicts.
