Centre Directs States to Strengthen Monsoon Disease Surveillance
Health Ministry asks hospitals and district authorities to intensify monitoring of dengue, malaria, chikungunya and water-borne infections ahead of peak monsoon season.
New Delhi, June 30: The Union Health Ministry has directed states and Union Territories to enhance disease surveillance and preparedness as the southwest monsoon advances across the country. The advisory calls for intensified monitoring of vector borne diseases such as dengue, malaria and chikungunya, along with water borne infections including cholera, typhoid and acute diarrhoeal diseases.
State health departments have been asked to ensure the availability of diagnostic kits, essential medicines, hospital beds and trained medical personnel. District administrations have also been advised to strengthen mosquito-control measures, improve sanitation, conduct awareness campaigns and ensure safe drinking water supplies.
The Centre stressed the importance of early detection, prompt reporting and coordinated action between healthcare institutions and local authorities to prevent outbreaks during the rainy season.
