Centre Expands PM SHRI Schools Programme to Strengthen Digital Learning
New phase focuses on smart classrooms, teacher training and modern infrastructure to improve learning outcomes across government schools.
New Delhi, Aug 03 : The Centre has announced the expansion of the PM SHRI Schools programme, with a renewed focus on strengthening digital infrastructure, enhancing classroom learning and improving the quality of education in government schools across the country.
Under the latest phase of the initiative, selected schools will receive support for smart classrooms, advanced science and computer laboratories, modern libraries and upgraded sports facilities. The programme also aims to equip teachers with contemporary teaching methods through regular training and capacity-building workshops.
Education Ministry officials said the expansion is designed to create model schools that align with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Greater emphasis will be placed on experiential learning, digital literacy, critical thinking and skill based education to prepare students for future academic and professional challenges.
The government also plans to improve accessibility for students with disabilities by strengthening inclusive infrastructure and promoting technology-enabled learning solutions. Schools participating in the programme will be encouraged to adopt innovative teaching practices and continuous assessment methods.
Officials believe the expanded initiative will help bridge learning gaps, improve educational standards and provide students in government schools with access to modern learning resources. The programme is expected to play a key role in transforming school education while ensuring equitable access to quality education across urban and rural regions.
