Jammu, Dec. 30: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee has criticized the BJP-led Centre Government, which failed to honour its commitment to restore statehood in 2024, and termed it another betrayal of the people of J&K.
The year has witnessed the sad event of the passing away of one of the tallest statesmen and economists in the country. In the sad demise of Dr. Manmohan Singh, the J&K Pradesh Congress Committee has said that Dr. Singh has left a great vacuum in the political, social, and economic atmosphere of the country.
JKPCC Chief Spokesperson Mr. Ravinder Sharma has said that the year 2024 has seen another betrayal and deception by the BJP-led Centre Govt. with the people, especially the youth of J&K, as the statehood was not restored despite repeated promises and assurances right from the floor of Parliament to the Supreme Court as well as in the recent election meetings by none else than Prime Minister Shri Narinder Modi. The elected government in the UT does not avail the powers required for the service of suffering people and to come up to the expectations of the people, especially the youth.
The restoration of full statehood is awaited as another year ends, which is a betrayal by the people. There is large-scale unrest amongst people on this count, and the large number of unemployed youth, daily wagers, need-based, contractual, and others or temporary arrangements for years are hoping for justice; the previous dispensation for ten years failed to do justice to them.
Congress has asked the Centre Govt. to fulfill the most genuine demand of the people of Jammu and Kashmir by granting full statehood without any further delay so that the expectations of people from an elected Govt. are fulfilled.
