Centre Tightens Border Security After Major Terror Conspiracy Bust
Security agencies intensify surveillance across northern states following the exposure of a cross border terror network.
NEW DELHI, May 8: The Union government has stepped up security measures along sensitive border regions after intelligence agencies uncovered a major terror conspiracy allegedly linked to Pakistan based handlers. The move comes after multiple arrests were made during coordinated raids carried out by the Delhi Police Special Cell and central agencies.
Officials said security deployments have been strengthened in Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan and Haryana to prevent infiltration attempts and cross-border smuggling activities. Surveillance drones, thermal imaging systems and advanced monitoring equipment are also being deployed in vulnerable sectors.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has instructed state police units to increase monitoring of suspicious online activities and cross-border communication channels. Railway stations, airports, religious places and military establishments have also been placed under enhanced security arrangements.
Sources indicated that intelligence agencies are tracking possible sleeper cells operating in different states. Investigators are examining digital evidence recovered from suspects arrested during recent operations.
Authorities said public safety remains the top priority and coordination among central and state agencies has been intensified to counter emerging threats.
