Chakda Xpress Set for Release After India’s Women’s World Cup Triumph? Here’s the Latest Update on Anushka Sharma’s Comeback Film

After reports of a fallout between Clean Slate Filmz and Netflix, buzz suggests Anushka Sharma’s long delayed biopic on Jhulan Goswami could finally get a release following India’s ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 triumph.

New Delhi, Nov 8 : Fans of Anushka Sharma have reason to rejoice, as her much awaited comeback film Chakda Xpress might finally be gearing up for release. The sports biopic, based on the inspiring life of former Indian women’s cricket team captain Jhulan Goswami, was reportedly stalled due to issues between Clean Slate Filmz (run by Anushka and Karnesh Sharma) and Netflix.

However, following India’s sensational win at the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, the buzz around Chakda Xpress has been reignited. According to reports, the film’s makers have reached out to Netflix India to resolve the creative and financial differences that had delayed the release.

A source quoted by Mid-Day revealed, “We have personally written to top executives at Netflix India to see if they can rise above the conflict so that the film can see the light of day. A biopic on a legend like Jhulan di deserves to reach the audience.”

Another insider added that the renewed interest was triggered by India’s historic World Cup triumph. “The recent victory has shifted focus back to the film. Internal discussions at the streaming platform have restarted, and a final decision on the release is expected later this month,” the insider said.

Reports suggest that Chakda Xpress ran into trouble after the production reportedly went over budget, and Netflix executives were dissatisfied with the film’s initial cut. Despite the setbacks, insiders claim that the film remains a strong and inspiring project.

An official announcement regarding the film’s release is still awaited.
