Chalyari village witnesses first ever cultural programme

Samba 13th March, 2023: With the aim to promote the art and culture of the Union Territory  of Jammu and Kashmir,  Sub-Office Kathua of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages organized a Music and Dance programme here today at Govt. Middle School, Chalyari in Samba which is the last village of District Samba and close to the Indo-Pak border. This is the very first time that village Chalyari has witnessed a cultural programme. The villagers were cherished to see such a high class programme organised by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. Asha Rani DDC Nadala was the chief guest on the occasion whereas Veena Devi Sarpanch Nalada was the guest of Honour.

Speaking on the occasion Asha Rani lauded the efforts made by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art Culture and Languages for bringing cultural event to the border area for the very first time. While appreciating the mesmerizing programme by the artists, she said that every artist has made her spell bound with their power packed performances.

The programme was started with the Sufi singing by Chaman Mattoo and Party who made everyone spellbound with their soulful voice. Krishan Kumar and party performed Hern which received applause from everyone. This was followed by the performances by Arjun Manhas & Party (Dogri Folk), Om Basotra & Party (Dogri Song), Joginder & party (Dogri Folk), Anjana & Party (Dogri Dance), Shaptan Singh & Party (Kud), Darshna Devi & party (Suhaag), Angrez Singh & Party (Dogri song) and  Rozina Bagum & Party (Gojri Dance)

The major highlight of the event was Geetru by Om Prakash & Party who gave their out of the world performances with professional ease.

Earlier, Sh. Sanjeev Gupta, SOCA Kathua, while addressing the august gathering informed that I have been directed by the authorities to take cultural activities to every village of Samba and Kathua which comes under my jurisdiction. I am trying to give my best to take the culture to every household so that the younger generation gets known by its roots. Further he added that in near days JKAACL will join hands with the people of border areas and come out with an extraordinary event with their support. Authorities have been very kind to me and Sh. Bharat Singh JKAS Secretary of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages has always encouraged me for the cultural activities in every village and it’s my duty to strive hard for the upliftment and betterment of the culture of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
