Chamber of Commerce & Industry Expresses Concern over Section 144 and Yuva Rajput Sabha’s Protest Arrests, Calls for Toll Plaza Suspension

Sarore Toll Plaza Controversy: Chamber of Commerce & Industry's Call for Arrested Yuva Rajput Sabha Activists' Release and Suspension of Toll Collection Gains Momentum

Jammu, 22-08-2023 : An urgent meeting of Office Bearers and Sr. Members of Chamber of Commerce & Industry was held today at Chamber House under the Presidentship of Sh. Arun Gupta. The meeting strongly condemned the action of the administration to impose section 144 and lift the activists of Yuva Rajput Sabha who were peacefully and democratically protesting and demanding the removal of Sarore Toll Plaza on the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway.

It was underscored that to protest peacefully and democratically is the fundamental right of every citizen.  Chamber had already highlighted the said issue and had requested the authorities to keep in abeyance the toll tax being collected at   Sarore till the damaged bridge of Tarnah Nalah on National Highway is completely restored. The transporters have to cover extra mileage due to diversion of traffic which has not only caused increased transportation cost besides delay in receipt of goods.

CCI firmly believes in the importance of open dialogue and communication between all stakeholders. We encourage the concerned authorities to engage in constructive discussions with the stakeholders  to find a resolution that respects the rights and interests of the people while ensuring the smooth functioning of public infrastructure.

Chamber of Commerce & Industry urges  the LG Administration to release the arrested activists of Yuva Rajput Saba forthwith and suspend the toll plaza till the National Highway is completely constructed and made fully operational.

Those present in the meeting include, Sh. Prithvi Raj Gupta, Sh. Shiv Partap Gupta, Sh. Ravinder Goel Sh. Ravinder Sawhney,  Sh. Jagdish langer, Sh . Anil Gupta, Sr. Vice President CCI, Sh.
