Changing Dynamics of Terrorism in J&K: 47 Terrorists Killed and 204 Arrested by Security Forces in 2023
27-09-2023 : Official sources have reported significant developments in the security operations conducted in Jammu and Kashmir in 2023 until September 26. During this period, a total of 47 terrorists were eliminated, and 204 were apprehended as part of multiple operations carried out by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and other security forces.
Among the 47 terrorists neutralized, nine were identified as local terrorists, while the remaining 38 were foreign militants. This statistic marks a notable contrast compared to the previous year, 2022, when 187 terrorists were eliminated, comprising 130 locals and 57 foreigners.
Furthermore, data indicates that between January 1 and September 26 of the current year, 204 terrorists were successfully apprehended in Jammu and Kashmir. In the previous month alone, security forces managed to eliminate four terrorists while apprehending 40 others. Additionally, eight terrorists were killed and 34 were apprehended during this period.
The data also sheds light on the current terrorist landscape in the region, revealing that there are presently 111 active terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. Among them, 40 are local militants, while 71 are foreign terrorists. This data is in contrast to the situation in the previous year when 137 terrorists were reported as active in the region.
