Chaos Erupts in Indian Parliament as Two Individuals Breach Security, Unleashing Tear Gas During Critical Legislative Session
New Delhi, 13-12-2023 : In a startling incident at the Lok Sabha today, two individuals dramatically entered the chamber from the public gallery, prompting an immediate adjournment of the proceedings. Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury asserted that the intruders were in possession of tear gas canisters. The disruption occurred during the Zero Hour, with one person vaulting over the benches of the Lok Sabha and another seen hanging from the public gallery, releasing tear gas.
Quick action was taken as Lok Sabha members and the security staff subdued the intruders. The chaos led to the adjournment of the House, with BJP member Rajendra Agrawal, who was presiding over the session, declaring a recess until 2 pm. Chowdhury expressed concern over the security lapse, especially given the solemn observance of the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attack earlier in the day.
Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi, in a post on social media platform X, described witnessing the two individuals releasing a foul-smelling yellow-colored gas inside the Parliament gallery. Members of Parliament swiftly intervened to apprehend the intruders, one of whom was reportedly raising slogans. Gogoi raised serious questions about the security arrangements in the new Parliament building, emphasizing the need for a thorough examination of the incident.
