Chief Secretary reviews preparations at key sites ahead of Sacred Buddha Relics Exposition

Leh, April 17, 2026: The Chief Secretary UT Ladakh, Ashish Kundra, conducted an extensive visit to various key locations in Leh to review the ongoing preparations for the forthcoming Sacred Buddha Relics Exposition.
The Chief Secretary was accompanied by Administrative Secretaries Shurvir Singh, Sanjit Rodrigues, and Bhanu Prabha, along with the Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Nodal Officer for the Exposition, Chief Engineer, PWD, SP Leh, concerned Heads of Departments, Followering Dharma, representative from LBA and other senior officials.
The visit commenced at Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport, Leh, followed by a visit to the Dharma Centre, Choglamsar, where he inspected the ongoing preparations. .
Subsequently, the Chief Secretary visited Jivetsal, the main venue for the exposition, and took stock of the site and assessed the readiness of facilities being developed to accommodate visitors and associated activities during the exposition. He reviewed arrangements pertaining to infrastructure development, crowd management, seating, sanitation, security deployment, and other essential facilities to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.
The inspection also included a visit to the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC), where he reviewed the preparedness for hosting related events and arrangements being put in place for the convenience of devotees and visitors.
During the visit, the Chief Secretary emphasised the importance of seamless inter-departmental coordination, timely completion of works, and adherence to safety and security protocols. He directed all departments to ensure that the highest standards of arrangements are maintained, keeping in view the expected large influx of devotees and tourists from across the country and abroad.
The Sacred Buddha Relics Exposition is scheduled to be held from May 1 to May 15, 2026, and is expected to be a significant spiritual and cultural event for the region.
