CJI Chandrachud Administers Oath to Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice Arvind Kumar
13-02-2023: Two Supreme Court judges were sworn into office on February 13 by Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud. The collegium recommended the names of Justices Rajesh Bindal and Arvind Kumar on January 31. On February 10, less than two weeks after their names were recommended, the Union government approved their appointment.
Prior to being as Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court in October 2021, Justice Bindal, a former judge from the Punjab and Haryana High Court, served as Acting Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court. Until April 2025, he will preside as a Supreme Court judge.
Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court was Justice Arvind Kumar, a member of the Karnataka High Court. Up to July 2026, he will serve as a Supreme Court justice.
