CM Adityanath Hails Transparent UP Police Recruitment Process Under BJP Rule

Chief Minister says transparent hiring has strengthened law enforcement and governance in Uttar Pradesh, with over 2.15 lakh police personnel recruited in nine years.

Lucknow, June 17: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday reaffirmed his government’s commitment to transparent and merit-based recruitment, stating that the police hiring process in the state has been conducted without favoritism, discrimination, or political influence.

Addressing a programme in Lucknow, the Chief Minister distributed appointment letters to 930 newly recruited Computer Operators (Grade-A) selected through the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board. He said the recruitment drive reflects the government’s broader efforts to build a professional and efficient police force through fair selection procedures.

Emphasizing the importance of transparency in public employment, Adityanath said that merit has remained the sole criterion in all recruitment exercises undertaken by his government. According to him, a strong law and order framework begins with an impartial recruitment system, followed by quality training and professional development.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister noted that the state recently conducted examinations for nearly 35,000 police constable posts, attracting applications from around 28 lakh candidates. He added that recruitment examinations for approximately 41,000 Home Guard positions were also organized, demonstrating the government’s continued focus on strengthening security institutions across Uttar Pradesh.

Adityanath highlighted the scale of recruitment undertaken during the past nine years, stating that nearly 2.15 lakh personnel have joined the police force through various selection drives. He asserted that every stage of the process was carried out with complete transparency and accountability.

“There has been no recommendation and no discrimination. Selection has been based entirely on merit,” the Chief Minister said while addressing the newly appointed candidates and senior officials present at the function.

He stressed that fair recruitment is essential for establishing public trust in institutions and ensuring effective governance. According to Adityanath, a transparent hiring system not only creates equal opportunities for youth but also contributes to building a capable and disciplined police force.

The Chief Minister also reflected on the law-and-order challenges that existed in Uttar Pradesh more than a decade ago. Recalling an incident in Moradabad, he referred to an attack on a senior IPS officer during communal violence, saying the episode illustrated the difficult circumstances under which law enforcement agencies were operating at the time.

Drawing a comparison with the present situation, Adityanath said significant improvements have been made in maintaining peace and security across the state. He asserted that stronger policing, improved administrative coordination, and systematic recruitment have collectively enhanced public safety.

“If senior police officers themselves were not secure in the past, one can imagine the situation faced by ordinary citizens, women, and vulnerable sections of society,” he said.

The Chief Minister credited reforms in recruitment, modernization of police infrastructure, and improved accountability mechanisms for strengthening the state’s law-and-order framework. He added that ensuring a transparent selection process remains a key pillar of the government’s governance model.

Officials present at the programme included Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Khanna, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad, and Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna. The event marked another step in the state’s ongoing efforts to enhance police capacity and improve public service delivery.

The newly appointed computer operators are expected to play an important role in supporting digital policing initiatives, data management systems, and technology-driven law enforcement operations across Uttar Pradesh.

The focus on UP Police recruitment transparency continues to remain central to the state’s strategy of strengthening institutional efficiency, improving public confidence, and creating employment opportunities for qualified youth through a merit-driven selection process.
