CM Dhami Says Ensuring Agniveers’ Future Is Government’s Responsibility

Dehradun, Mar 11 – Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday emphasized that it is the government’s responsibility to ensure the future of Agniveers after their retirement from military service. He highlighted that a 10 per cent horizontal reservation has been provided for Agniveers in the state’s uniformed posts.

Interaction with Agniveer Cadets

Dhami was speaking to cadets enrolling as Agniveers at Government Inter College Bhararisain in Gairsain, the state’s summer capital. When cadet OP Kandari asked about post-service employment opportunities, Dhami explained that the state government has reserved 10 per cent of positions in uniformed services for Agniveers. He also mentioned that the central government provides additional opportunities in various fields for retired Agniveers.

“It is the government’s responsibility to secure the future of every Agniveer,” Dhami affirmed during the session.

Reflections on Army Life and Public Service

During the interaction, Dhami shared his personal connection to the Army, noting that as the son of a soldier, he has witnessed military discipline and dedication firsthand. He said, “With the same commitment and dedication with which our soldiers perform their duties, I strive to serve the people of Uttarakhand as the chief servant of the state.”

He also remarked that public representatives should maintain politeness while interacting with citizens but sometimes need to take tough and bold decisions in the state’s interest.

Governance Achievements and Development Focus

Dhami cited Uttarakhand’s pioneering initiatives, including being the first state to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and enacting stringent laws against exam cheating and riots. He reiterated that the government is committed to accelerating the state’s development while ensuring the welfare of its youth and Agniveers.
