CNG Prices Raised by Rs 2 Per Kg
Continuous increase in CNG rates pushes fuel cost up by Rs 4 per kg since May 15
NEW DELHI, May 26: In another setback for commuters and transport operators, the Delhi CNG price hike continued on Tuesday as compressed natural gas rates were increased by Rs 2 per kg in the national capital. With the latest revision, CNG will now be sold at Rs 83.09 per kg, according to Indraprastha Gas Limited.
This marks the fourth upward revision in CNG prices since May 15, resulting in a cumulative increase of Rs 4 per kg within less than two weeks. The repeated rise in fuel prices is expected to impact daily commuters, auto-rickshaw drivers, taxi operators and public transport services that heavily rely on CNG.
The latest adjustment comes amid fluctuations in energy markets and rising input costs for city gas distributors. Industry observers believe the continued increase may lead to higher transportation expenses and add pressure on household budgets in the coming weeks.
Delhi, which has one of the largest CNG-based transport networks in the country, has witnessed frequent fuel price revisions in recent months. Consumers have expressed concern over the growing operational costs, especially commercial vehicle owners dependent on CNG for daily earnings.
Despite the latest hike, officials said CNG continues to remain comparatively cheaper and cleaner than conventional fuels such as petrol and diesel.
