Coach of Amritsar-Saharsa Garib Rath Express Catches Fire in Punjab, No Injuries Reported

Passengers safely evacuated near Sirhind; fire extinguished, train to resume journey shortly

Fatehgarh Sahib (Punjab), Oct 18: A fire broke out in a coach of the Amritsar-Saharsa Garib Rath Express near Sirhind railway station on Saturday morning, officials said. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

The incident occurred around 7:30 AM as the train (number 12204) was en route from Amritsar. Smoke was noticed in one of the AC coaches, prompting authorities to safely evacuate all passengers.

“Passengers of the affected coach were immediately shifted to other coaches. Fire tenders were called in to extinguish the fire promptly,” a railway official said.

After the fire was brought under control, railway authorities confirmed that the train will resume its journey to its destination shortly.

The quick response by railway and local authorities ensured passenger safety and minimized disruption to the train’s schedule.
