Commercial LPG Prices Surge by ₹195.5; Domestic Cylinder Rates Remain Unchanged
West Asia tensions push up commercial cylinder rates while household LPG prices remain unchanged
New Delhi, Apr 1: Commercial LPG cylinder prices witnessed a sharp increase of ₹195.50 on Wednesday, driven by a significant rise in global crude oil rates amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
Following the revision, a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder is now priced at ₹2,078.50 in Delhi, as per state-run oil marketing companies. This marks the second consecutive monthly hike, after an increase of ₹114.50 implemented on March 1.
In contrast, domestic LPG prices have remained stable. A 14.2-kg household cooking gas cylinder continues to cost ₹913 in the national capital. The last revision in domestic rates was recorded on March 7, when prices were raised by ₹60 per cylinder.
Public sector oil companies revise LPG and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices at the start of each month, taking into account fluctuations in international fuel benchmarks and currency exchange rates.
The recent spike in commercial LPG prices is largely attributed to a steep rise in global oil rates, which have surged nearly 50 percent due to supply disruptions caused by the escalating geopolitical situation in West Asia.
Meanwhile, petrol and diesel prices have remained unchanged since a ₹2 per litre reduction announced in March last year. Currently, petrol is retailing at ₹94.72 per litre and diesel at ₹87.62 per litre in Delhi.
