JAMMU, APRIL 1: A two-day orientation course cum workshop for the officers and officials of the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) J&K began today at the Convention Centre, marking a key step towards enhancing the sports infrastructure and talent development in Jammu and Kashmir.
Commissioner Secretary Youth Services and Sports, Dr Shahid Iqbal, inaugurated the workshop, emphasising the need for sustained support to drive sports development and robust youth engagement programs. “This initiative reaffirms DYSS J&K’s commitment to build a robust sports ecosystem, empowering youth, and positioning the region as a powerhouse in Indian sports,” he said.
The workshop drew participation from the District Youth Services and Sports Officers, officers and officials from various wings, Physical Education Masters and Teachers from across J&K.
Dr Iqbal advised the participants to leverage the workshop for efficient program implementation and flawless execution of sports activities.
Director General Youth Services and Sports, Anuradha Gupta, highlighted ambitious targets for nurturing young talent and elevating J&K’s sports ecosystem to national prominence.
The workshop focused on streamlining sports activities, talent scouting, and strategies to boost J&K’s medal tally on the national stage.
The Chief Guest felicitated the best-performing districts in online events on the MyBharat portal, recognising winners in Aorohan Quiz, Volleyball, Cricket, Football, 8 on 8 Challenge and Green Jammu and Kashmir.
