Congress Chief Karra Urges North Kashmir to Reject BJP’s Divisive ‘Experimental Policies’ in Final Poll Phase

SRINAGAR, Sept 27: In a strong critique of the BJP’s strategies in Jammu and Kashmir, Congress’ state chief, Tariq Hameed Karra, has described north Kashmir as a “battleground” for the ruling party’s experimental policies. Speaking ahead of the final phase of the assembly elections, Karra urged voters in the region to make an informed decision, warning of the potential risks posed by the BJP’s divisive agenda. He claimed that the BJP’s “experimental policies” threaten to disrupt the social fabric and stability of the region, and called for a collective rejection of these tactics.

Karra emphasized the unique and significant role that north Kashmir plays in shaping the political and social landscape of the Union Territory. “North Kashmir has always been a beacon of resistance against forces seeking to divide and destabilize Jammu and Kashmir,” Karra said, noting the electorate’s previous rejection of the BJP’s attempts to gain influence. Citing instances like the District Development Council (DDC), Block Development Council (BDC), and Lok Sabha elections, Karra pointed to the BJP’s failure to secure substantial support in the region, describing it as a clear mandate against the party’s policies.

Karra’s address, made to a gathering of supporters and voters, highlighted the crucial importance of the ongoing elections in determining the future trajectory of Jammu and Kashmir. He warned that the results of these elections would have long-term implications, potentially shaping the future of the region for the next century. “This election is not just about the present,” Karra stated, “It’s about the future of our children and the identity of Jammu and Kashmir as a whole. The people of north Kashmir must rise to the occasion and lead the way in rejecting the divisive and misleading politics of the BJP.”

The Congress chief further accused the BJP-led government of failing to deliver on its promises of development. “The BJP has repeatedly claimed to be the harbinger of development, but where are the results? North Kashmir remains deprived of basic infrastructure, employment opportunities, and economic progress. Their so-called development agenda has only brought stagnation and division,” Karra asserted. He noted that under the current regime, the region has faced a surge in unemployment, underdevelopment, and neglect, with the government’s policies doing little to address the actual needs of the people.

Karra called upon the people to show the same resolve they demonstrated in earlier elections by supporting the Congress-National Conference alliance, which he believes is the only way to safeguard Jammu and Kashmir’s future. “In the previous phases of this election, the people have already shown where their loyalties lie by voting for the alliance candidates. Now, it is imperative for north Kashmir to send a strong message once again—one that reinforces unity and rejects the divisive, experimental politics of the BJP,” he remarked.

The Congress leader also emphasized the need for voters to be wary of propaganda and misinformation. He accused the BJP of attempting to manipulate the narrative, portraying their failures as successes, and of creating a false sense of normalcy in a region that continues to face challenges on various fronts. “The BJP is trying to deceive the people by presenting a false image of progress and peace in Jammu and Kashmir. But the reality is far different, and the people of north Kashmir are well aware of that,” Karra said.

Referring to the upcoming final phase of the assembly elections, Karra pointed out that the Congress is contesting five out of the 16 assembly seats. He expressed confidence that the voters in north Kashmir would rally behind the alliance candidates, much like they have done in the previous phases. “The people of Jammu and Kashmir have consistently rejected the BJP’s divisive policies in past elections, and I am confident that the electorate in north Kashmir will continue this trend by voting for the Congress-NC alliance,” he added.

Karra ended his speech with a call to action, urging voters to protect the integrity and future of Jammu and Kashmir by casting their ballots wisely. “The time has come to stand united, to reject the politics of division, and to vote for a future where peace, progress, and prosperity are the guiding principles. North Kashmir has always been at the forefront of this fight, and I am confident that you will once again lead the way in securing a bright future for our region,” he concluded.
