Congress Commemorates Lala Lajpat Rai on His Death Anniversary

Mallikarjun Kharge honors ‘Punjab Kesari’ and his enduring legacy in India’s independence struggle.

New Delhi, Nov 17 : Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday paid homage to the legendary freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai on his death anniversary, remembering him as a “fiery warrior” of India’s struggle for independence.
Quoting Rai’s powerful words, Kharge wrote on X, “Every stick that falls on my body will prove to be a new nail in the coffin of the British Empire.”
Affectionately called ‘Punjab Kesari’ and ‘Sher-e-Punjab,’ Lala Lajpat Rai played a crucial role in India’s fight against colonial rule. A prominent leader of the Indian National Congress, he was also a strong advocate for social reform and Hindu-Muslim unity.
Rai’s leadership in the Non-Cooperation Movement and the Swaraj Party, coupled with his unwavering courage and sacrifice, continues to inspire generations. His commitment to social justice and national pride remains a cornerstone of India’s freedom legacy.
