Udhampur, Oct 27—The Congress fact-finding team headed by Mr. Ravinder Sharma visited districts Reasi and Udhampur today and interacted with party candidates, leaders, district and block functionaries, and leaders of frontal wings.
Accompanied by the team members, including Ved Mahajan, Jahangir Mir, Naresh Gupta, and Dina Nath Bhagat, the committee held detailed deliberations with the contesting candidates of the party, senior leaders, and other functionaries and grass-roots leaders of the party to know about the defeat of the party, despite large scale resentment against the BJP’s over record unemployment, unprecedented price rise, heavy taxes and other anti-people decisions of the centre and LG administration.
The party workers appreciated the initiative of the party to constitute a fact-finding team of senior leaders to reach out to the grassroots party workers all over the province . They shared their views and experiences of the elections and suggested ways forward for strengthening the organization and countering the BJP’s propaganda. The workers expressed confidence that the party is still strong as compared to the last elections and can emerge further stronger and counter the BJP if corrective measures are taken, as people have high hopes for the Congress party, which is the only secular & democratic force in the region.
They also highlighted the biased role of administration and facilitated the distribution of rations, money, etc to influence the voters. The BJP spent a huge amount on campaigns and elections to manage victory.
